Beomeosa Temple is located at the eastern foot of Mt. Geumjeong in Beomeosa-ro (formerly Cheongnyong-dong), Geumjeong-gu, Busan. It is the headquarters of the 14th district of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. Along with Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon and Tongdosa Temple in Yangsan, it is called one of the three major temples in Yeongnam.
In the 18th year of King Munmu of Silla (678), it was founded by Master Uisang as one of the ten Hwaeom temples in Haedong. It is the only temple in the country that houses the national treasure <Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms>, and in 'Uisangjeongyo', which is one of the oldest editions and is included in Volume 4 and 5, Uisang Daesa is a Buddhist priest in ten temples. The contents of the establishment of the ten temples of Hwaeom by spreading the religion come out, and among them, it is mentioned that 'Geumjeongjibeomeo', that is, Beomeosa Temple in Geumjeongsan Mountain, is included.
