北菓楼 札幌本館

It has been built in Taisho 15 as a commemorative Hokkaido government library for about a century. The building, which has been loved by the people of Sapporo as a library and an art museum, was reborn in March 2016 as “Hokuwaru Sapporo Honkan”, designed by Tadao Ando, a world-renowned architect. The theme is "Salon". As a new salon in Hokkaido, this place, which was once the center of culture and art, aims to be a shop overflowing with smiles of customers through sweets, culture, and exchange.

Kitakuraru Sapporo Honkan offers almost all of Hokukuraru's Japanese, Western, and fresh confectionery, as well as Sapporo Honkan-limited products. You can enjoy shopping slowly in a space where historical brick walls and intelligent modern design are fused. In addition, since the museum was once "Hotaro Migishi Hotaro Art Museum", "Migishi Satellite" is established. Valuable works by Hotaro Migishi (1903-1934), a Western-style painter from Sapporo, are on display. (Owned by the Migishi Hotaro Museum of Art, Hokkaido, exhibits change each season.) The “Old Entrance Hall” remains as it was when the museum was built in 1912, and is also a popular photo spot.
