Monument Nasional (National Monument | Monas)
It is a national monument of the Republic of Indonesia built to commemorate Indonesia's struggle for independence.
Construction began in 1961 under the direction of President Sukarno. Monas opened to the public in 1975. A flame covered with gold foil tops it. About 132 to 137 meters high.
Indonesia was colonized by Portugal, the Netherlands, and Japan for more than 300 years , but gained independence in 1945 with Japan's surrender.
There is a museum below and you can go up by elevator.
