Visiting Terminal 21 Gourmet Market

My adventure began at a nearby foreign exchange center. Nestled in the vicinity of Asoke Station, Terminal 21 beckoned me with promises of favorable rates. It sat right by the entrance, offering a quick and convenient service. Armed with my trusty Travel Wallet card, I quickly discerned that its exchange rates trumped all others, leaving me with no need for further transactions.

The Gourmet Market was my next stop. Situated on the LG floor, I descended gracefully down the escalator, eagerly awaiting the culinary treasures that lay in wait. Let me take you on a journey through some of the gems I discovered:

Everyday Essentials:
It was fascinating to see everyday products lining the shelves. The humble toothpaste, body wash, hand wash, conditioner, and shampoo that had become so familiar back home were now present before my eyes. My beloved Sunsilk conditioner, the unsung hero of my haircare regimen, found its way into my basket. Then there was the renowned Ponz Powder, celebrated for its association with Hong Jin-young. Yet, the classic pink hue had already disappeared from the shelves.

A Symphony of Scents:
Venturing further, I explored the world of air fresheners and deodorizers. Highzen offered an array of choices, each an olfactory adventure in its own right. The blue promised a refreshing aura, while the pink emanated a delightful blend of fruit and floral fragrances. The black, untouched thus far, teased the essence of Downy. Personally, the blue resonated as the most versatile. Packaged individually, each awaited at the price of 29 to 35 baht.

Laundry Nostalgia:
As I contemplated the everyday necessities, I couldn't help but reminisce about my fading fabric softener. That's when I laid my eyes on two bottles adorned with the adorable Gummi Bear illustrations. Not only were they visually appealing, but they also boasted long-lasting fragrances. I wish I had stocked up more of these.

Cool Choices:
Curiosity led me to explore the world of Cool sanitary pads. Seemingly, it was a must for the ladies. As I picked up a packet for myself, the true test remained in the future.

Summer Essentials:
With the scorching season looming, I couldn't leave behind mosquito repellents. SOFFELL was the brand of choice, ready to be my shield against these tiny, buzzing foes.

Gifts for Grown-Ups:
Among the selection, there were gifts that seemed perfect for adults. The tiger balm and patches stood out as thoughtful tokens.

Delightful Edibles:
Nuts and dried fruits abounded. While I wasn't a frequent mango consumer, they appeared to be one of the most prominent choices.

Cooking Adventures:
The array of pastes and sauces, organized by type, beckoned the culinary explorer within me. It was a paradise for those seeking to whip up Thai classics like Pad Thai and Tom Yum.

Quick Meal Fix:
The Thipsamai Pad Thai meal kit was available at the same price as in the restaurant, and various other brands were on display.

The Uncharted Territory:
The Tom Yum ramen, a bold endeavor, was still on my checklist, awaiting my curiosity.

Crunchy Delights:
The Kuna coconut chips and dried mango, with their unique textures and flavors, promised delightful snacking moments.

Seaweed Snacks:
Various seaweed snacks and Korean-style snacks graced the shelves, offering diverse choices for nibblers.

Sweet Surprises:
As a traveler in a foreign land, I couldn't resist indulging in some unique finds. The watermelon-flavored Halls candy, exclusive to Bangkok, was a true revelation. And of course, the ever-present milk candy came in various flavors, including corn and watermelon. Among the well-known brands, Pokky stood as a timeless favorite.

Mysteries Unveiled:
My journey led me to the mysterious world of famous "Madam Heng" soap. As its popularity was an enigma to me, I couldn't help but wonder. Alongside, I stumbled upon Chartramue tea, a taste of royalty. I chose the petite Doi Kam as my souvenir, a memory of my journey to cherish.

As for the details of my precious acquisitions and shopping list, a separate post shall illuminate their significance.

And the climax of my gastronomic adventure awaited at Chatramue. Known as a milk tea haven, we decided to try the Honey Lemon Green Tea instead. At just 50 baht a glass, it offered a refreshing respite.

The location was easy to find at Terminal 21, a spot with an unassuming Korean menu, bearing the coordinates - Chartramue Terminal 21 PHQ6+659, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand. The tea boutique didn't just offer beverages; they also presented tea leaves in charming tins, featuring Thai tea, green tea, and more. The familiar was far from the ordinary; these were delightful surprises.

This culinary voyage led me from Pier 21 to Gourmet Market and concluded with a sip of Chatramue tea. Two to three hours passed by in the blink of an eye, as my day turned into a memorable gastronomic escapade.

And so, with a bag of cherished souvenirs and a heart full of culinary delights, I left the Gourmet Market and Chatramue, ready to narrate the tales of Bangkok's culinary wonders.

Let the flavors and fragrances linger, as you embark on your culinary journey through this new tale!
