In 1971, when Korea's modernization and industrialization were in full swing, Korea and France signed an agreement on the establishment of a Korean-French technical elementary school to exchange technology and culture through education projects. According to this agreement, in March 1973, 'Aju Technical Junior College', the predecessor of Ajou University, was established by Yushin Academy, which was established by Park Chang-won, president of Yushin High-Speed Tourism Co., Ltd.
